What a fabulous strand of vintage vinyl record beads in the mix of bright rainbow colors. This particular Vinyl Record necklace includes a beautiful mix of colors, from yellows, blues, greens, black, pink, and reds. It is truly a fruity rainbow mix. These strands are made from an old material, they are VINTAGE. These are not the new plastic beads made in Ghana. These are oldie GOLD!
Our vintage African Vinyl Record Beads are made from a material called Vulcanite, which is an old source used to make vinyl records and became very popular when women started recycling the vinyl records and transforming them into beads, so creating bright colorful, and unusual jewelry to adorn their bodies. They were called Phono Beads but also known in Mali as Jigida beads, commonly used to shape the women's waist—truly stunning craftsmanship on these little tiny sequined beads.
Truly, African Vinyl Record Beads are beautiful and fun, quickly turning into one of my favorite beads, full of colors and history. The vinyl record bead strand is shipped as shown in the pictures, strung in a loop as they're used and traded in Africa. You can wear them as they are or you can easily take them apart to create your jewelry that I am sure, will be nothing short of magical.
